Architectural Record House by Francis Mah

In 1979, architect Francis Mah built an innovative, modern house for his family that won a prestigious national Architectural Record House award. The house served as a laboratory of architectural ideas, continuing to bear fruit and enrich the lives of Memphians for two generations and counting (see article below).
Chief among those ideas was the notion of dividing the house into two wings; one for the public functions of cooking, gathering and socializing; and another for children's rooms, guest rooms, and changing rooms for the pool. The two halves were separate but equal, unified under a single sheltering roof.
The combined effect was to create a quiet family oasis that made space for reflection, study and joy while keeping the world at bay.
